In 2005, Sir John Anderson was awarded the Inaugural Blake Medal for “Outstanding Contributions to New Zealand”. Sir John held the position of CEO of The National Bank from 1989-2005, overseeing its merger with the ANZ.

He was Chairman of TVNZ from 2006-2012, and is currently director of APN News & Media Australia, director of NZIER and Chairman of Turners & Growers.

Sir John’s involvement in sport saw him as Chairman of New Zealand Cricket from 1995-2008 and Chairman of the New Zealand Sports Foundation from 1999-2009, which earned him the 2010 “Leadership Excellence in Sport” Halberg Award.
